Although tensions between the U.S. and North Korea are on the rise, dictator Kim Jong-un states that he’s still set to launch a nuclear missile tomorrow in order to show the world his power. Unfortunately for him, things might not work out as President Donald Trump’s brutal surprise just leaked – and it’s set to take place just before the warhead takes off.
There has been a pretty constant back and forth between the U.S. and North Korea during the past few days as the communist country tries to keep up appearances. However, it boiled over when Kim Jong-un’s regime made a recent announcement.
North Korea will launch another nuclear weapon test tomorrow. It marks the national holiday Day of the Sun, commemorating the birth of the country’s founding father Kim Il Sung.
As one would imagine, Trump quickly stepped in with the support of a few other countries to say that it isn’t going to happen. In fact, he went so far to use Twitter to make a public declaration, saying that the U.S. will take care of the threat that North Korea poses to the world, with or without the help of anyone.
Of course, North Korea didn’t like that too much and issued a few threats of their own, not only saying that they would continue with the nuclear test but that they would retaliate by attacking South Korea and a few American bases if Trump intervened whatsoever. Rather than continue the quarrelsome comments publicly, the U.S. President decided to flex his military muscle and moved a Navy fleet into the area – but, that might not be all.
As it turns out, it looks like Trump might have a brutal surprise planned for the dictator should the “fat kid” decide to carry out the missile launch. According to NBC, the U.S. may launch a “preemptive strike” if “officials become convinced” that North Korea is preparing to test another nuclear weapon.
[I]ntelligence officials told NBC News that the U.S. has positioned two destroyers capable of shooting Tomahawk cruise missiles in the region, one just 300 miles from the North Korean nuclear test site. American heavy bombers are also positioned in Guam to attack North Korea should it be necessary, and earlier this week, the Pentagon announced that the USS Carl Vinson aircraft carrier strike group was being diverted to the area. The U.S. strike could include missiles and bombs, cyber and special operations on the ground. [Source: NBC]
In short, Trump would wipe out the area – nuclear missile included – just before the thing could take off, thereby shutting down Kim Jong-un’s grandstanding once and for all. However, there seems to be some confusion regarding the report, with many people saying it may not be all it’s cracked up to be.
With some people saying that their government sources have denied the report and its contents, others are saying it’s not too far off. Furthermore, some suggest that the strike will only come after the nuke is launched in order to prove a point.
As for North Korea, they still remain undeterred in their childish efforts to show the world that they’re really “big boys” over there. “We will go to war — if they choose,” Vice Minister Han Song Ryol told the Associated Press in an interview. “If the U.S. comes with reckless military maneuvers, then we will confront it with the [North Korea’s] pre-emptive strike.”
In the meantime, it’s just a waiting game, but Trump has made his stance perfectly clear – North Korea and nuclear missiles just won’t mix. Seeing how he has the backing of several countries nearby, it’s clear that he’s on the right side of things. However, that doesn’t make things any less nerve wracking as we prepare to enter into military conflict. Either way, America has the upper hand. You’d have to be a moron to pick a fight with the most powerful superpower in the world.
